  • Parent Engagement Blueprint 2023-2024

    You're Invited!

Parents of students in grades 3-5 are invited to join us for this year's Parent Information Night Series!

The series is part of the Botvin Life Skills Parent Training, a comprehensive substance abuse prevention program that focuses on targeting the social and psychological factors that initiate risky behaviors rather than simply educating participants on the dangers of drug and alcohol use. It helps students to develop greater self-esteem and self-confidence and to effectively cope with anxiety. Parents are provided with information and strategies to help support their children as they grow up and face various challenges. This program helps give children the tools to make good choices.

As part of WSSD’s Parent Engagement Series on Trauma Invested Practices, the district is offering this unique training session. Learn how you can help your child (grades K-5) cope with the big and small changes that may occur within any family. The focus on the session will be on how to help children handle change—both the big changes (divorce, new sibling, family illness, new school) and the little changes (new drop-off/pick-up routine, change in a parent/guardian work schedule). Help to create routines and rituals that offer a sense of safety and security. Learn how to reduce your child’s stress and teach them how to thrive when change happens. Please view the flyer for the Zoom link and more information. If you were unable to attend this event, you can still view the participant handout here.
