Returning to school after an absence:  A written note from a parent or doctor is required upon the student’s return and should include the following information: the student's full name, the date of the absence, the reason for the absence, and the signature of a parent/guardian. Notes need to be turned to the school within 3 days of an absence to excuse them.

For absences of 3 days or longer, a physician’s note is required in accordance with the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District Board policy. Current options for excusal note submission are:

    1. Physical notes brought to the school to be turned into the student's teacher (elementary) or attendance office
    2. Pictures of handwritten notes with a signature attached to an email that is addressed to the school attendance email line.
