The Operations Department’s mission is to provide safe, clean, well-maintained, temperature controlled and environmentally-sound facilities for all students, staff, administrators and community members of the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. It is responsible for the general management of the District’s real property assets: The District’s Five Schools, Athletic Fields, and Support Facilities. We provide Maintenance and Custodial Services for the School District ensuring our schools are built, maintained, and cleaned to the highest standards, in order to provide quality education for all our students.
The Department forecasts future facility requirements based on growth projections, develops capital investment programs, and manages the planning, design, and construction of capital projects. The department strives to ensure efficient and effective cleaning; maintenance; environmental and hazardous waste management; mail, package, and supply delivery; trash removal and recycling; snow and ice removal; facilities usage management; setup for events; and furniture moving.
The Department develops programs with appropriate focus on preventative maintenance of existing facilities as well as capital improvement projects that support the district’s long-term mission and vision.
