What is included in a meal?

WSSD/The Nutrition Group operates according to the USDA School Breakfast Program. With this, a breakfast meal still includes an entrée with a side of fruit, fruit juice, or milk. To purchase a breakfast at the meal price, students must choose at least a fruit or a juice plus two other items. Otherwise, students will be charged for their items at the a la carte price.

WSSD/The Nutrition Group operates according to the USDA National School Lunch Program. With this, a lunch meal still includes an entrée (grain and protein), fruits, vegetables, and milk. To purchase a lunch at the meal price, students must choose at least a fruit or a vegetable plus two other food groups. Otherwise, students will be charged for their items at the a la carte price.

How do students pay for meals?

At the cafeteria register, students will enter their PIN to populate their accounts. If they have funds already in their account, the price of their meal will be withdrawn. If they do not have funds, they can pay for their meal with cash or a check.

Funds can either be deposited into students' accounts through My School Bucks (https://www.myschoolbucks.com/) or in person via cash or check.

Menus can be accessed through the District website under the Food Services Department or by visiting Nutrislice directly through the app or at https://wssd.nutrislice.com/.

    Food Supply Chain Issues

We wish to inform you of food supply chain issues that are occurring nationally and may impact your child’s school meal. Throughout the pandemic, food manufacturers and distributors have had to continually shift their product development, packaging, and distribution to adjust to supply shortages and the continually changing needs of individuals and industry. In addition, the food manufacturing and distributing industry is facing many of the same challenges other industries are facing, including staffing and labor shortages, and rising costs of materials and transportation.

As a result, some menu options may change on short notice, but please rest assured that we are continually doing everything we can to alleviate any of these issues.

As always, our goal is to provide high-quality, nutritious, healthy, and well-balanced meals to all students. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or feedback.
