The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) is one of the five federal service academies that include West Point, Annapolis, Air Force, and Coast Guard academies.
Students are encouraged to visit usmma.edu/admissions to learn more about the Academy.
Graduates of the United States Merchant Marine Academy earn a Bachelor of Science degree, a U.S. Coast Guard license, and a commission in the United States Armed Forces. Our graduates have an option to work as ship’s officers in the United States maritime industry or serve as commissioned officers on active duty in any branch of service.

Between junior and senior years in high school, students interested in West Point are encouraged to attend the Summer Leaders Experience (SLE). This two-week-long program is full of informative and fun activities which introduce the attendees to cadet life. Although attending SLE is NOT required for admission, it does provide rising seniors with a better understanding of the academic and leadership opportunities West Point has to offer.
