- Submit via Common App or through the college website or Coalition App.
- Thank your teachers who wrote you letters!
- Common App support is 24/7 at https://www.commonapp.org/help
- You may need to contact the admissions of your college for specific guidance if applying directly to them through their website.
- If you add new schools to your list moving forward you must add them to your list in Naviance, indicate how you are applying (if you see a ? in the computer icon you have not done that), and add them to your Common App list (if they are Common App schools) BEFORE you turn in a new transcript request form.
- All forms and documents can be found on the Forms and Documents Page
- If you are having trouble finding FERPA: If your school uses Naviance to submit school forms, students will submit the FERPA release authorization within the Common App account, not their Naviance account. The student must complete the education section within the Common App first, then complete the FERPA release authorization. The FERPA release authorization is found within the Recommenders and FERPA section of my colleges tab, and the "release authorization" link must be checked with the FERPA decision. Students can only see the Recommenders and FERPA section once they've added at least one school to their application. You must waive access to see letters to have letters sent.
- Students must add counselors and teachers through Naviance but must add other recommenders (Non SHHS adults) through Common App. Counselors and teachers will log in through Naviance to complete recommendation forms.

Parents - Take Note! A recent survey from the researchers at California State University found that "helicopter parents" create students who are "more likely to be dependent on others, engage in poor coping strategies, and lack the soft skills such as responsibility and conscientiousness which employers value". The research was published in a recent issue of Education + Training. The research also concluded that the offspring of helicopter parents are becoming more of an issue on college campuses. (College Bound, Sept. 2014)
