Snacks -We have a designated snack time each day, which coincides with our daily interactive read aloud. Please send in a light, nutritious snack with your child everyday (fruit, veggies, pretzels, yogurt, etc.) along with a refillable BOTTLE OF WATER ONLY (No Gatordade, lemonade, milk, etc. is allowed in the clasroom).  All water bottles should be able to close securely to minimize leaks and be made of plastic or metal. Overly sweet and/or salty foods, such as potato chips, brownies, cookies, etc. are strongly discouraged as a daily snack. Candy, sodas, juice, Gatorade, and other sports and carbonated drinks are not allowed in class.

Birthday Recognitions (OPTIONAL) - In accordance with school recommendations, we request that alternatives to sweet treats be considered when wanting to honor a child's birthday.  These alternatives can be non-food related, such as pencils, bubbles, activity books, etc. If food options are to be considered, they must be nut AND dairy-free. Before supplying ANY food-related item(s), please contact Mrs. Clarke at dclarke@wssd.org to discuss any potential allergies.

NOTE: We have a very limited time for students to partake in any treats, if applicable - usually less than 10 minutes. Again, non-food items are best, rather than food, just so we can avoid any students having to be excluded from certain foods being brought in.

Class Parties: There will be designated class parties - Halloween, Winter (just before Winter Break), Valentine's Day, and End of the Year (this party is in conjunction with all of the 2nd grade classes).  Designated Room Parents, once selected through PTO, will coordinate party planning and needs with parents/guardians.
