On behalf of all the staff at the Community of Explorers program, we just want to say how rewarding it was to work with all of the amazing students who attended our program. While it was a quick two weeks, we felt that we made meaningful connections with your children, engaged in high quality instruction focused in reading and math, but also provided lots of opportunities for fun along the way. Teachers enjoyed having the flexibility to mix in STEM activities, crafts, outside recess, and lessons on focused topics. Morning meetings were also utilized to instill a respectful learning community and build peer relationships in the short duration of the camp. It was evident how happy the students were with simply interacting with friends from across the entire district and for some, returning to in-person instruction for the first time in over a year.
As program director, I want to express my most sincere thanks to the WSSD staff and WES support staff who helped us immensely, the WSSD transportation department and Nutrition Group, the students in our program, and families who supported us along the way. We hope everyone had a great experience and look forward to seeing you around the WSSD campus.
