WSSD welcomes Dr. Greg Hilden as the new principal of Strath Haven High School! He began his position on July 1st, and we are happy to have him onboard as we work through these summer months to prepare for the new school year. Please read his introduction to the community below:
I was born and raised in Delaware County along with my nine siblings. Immediately after beginning to teach and coach basketball at my alma mater, Cardinal O'Hara High School, I knew high school was where I wanted to spend my career. After several years in the classroom, I transitioned to the role of counselor at Unionville High School in Kennett Square. It was during this time as a counselor that I developed a desire to serve the educational system on a more macro level. This feeling has only deepened while serving as an assistant principal at Garnet Valley High School.
During my time as an administrator, I have been lucky to work with many great educators who have always sought to put students first. I believe strongly in valuing perspective and working collaboratively to ensure a quality education for ALL students. As principal, it is my goal to support the faculty and staff as we seek to maximize our students' potential so that all doors remain open in their future. A student only needs one teacher to demonstrate belief in them, in order for them to believe in themselves.
Thank you to my parents as well as all of my teachers and role models for instilling the value of continued education in me. My wife (an elementary school counselor) and I, hope to pass along this desire to our two daughters. I hold a B.A in Philosophy, M.S. in Counseling & Human Relations, and an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership.
I look forward to being a part of the Wallingford-Swarthmore family for years to come.
