Re-evaluation of High School Health Class Curriculum

At the Wallingford Swarthmore School Board meeting on July 23rd, one of our Strath Haven High School students voiced concerns regarding a sexual education program in our health classes.  The concerns involve classroom presentations and personal interactions with the independent providers that come into our school to offer these programs, not our school district staff. The concerns are focused on the presentations reportedly providing inaccurate and biased information. We are grateful to the student who very eloquently outlined her concerns, and we will thoroughly investigate this matter. We will re-evaluate this program, and as we gather more information we’ll fully communicate about it with our school community. Our goal is to present factual and balanced information in our classes that empowers students to make healthy choices. Thanks for your patience as we work through this matter.
