Transportation

Welcome to the Transportation Department

Studies done by The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveal that the school bus is the safest vehicle on the road. The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District transportation department proudly operates a fleet of 39 school buses and 4 vans, used to transport nearly 3,500 students to 65 school programs in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties, along with Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE. Additionally, our department provides transportation for hundreds of sports, band and field trips each school year. When fully staffed, we have a workforce of 45 bus drivers, 8 school bus aides and 3 office staff.

Bus schedules are designed by the transportation office during the summer. As student ridership changes throughout the school year, bus schedules are modified and adjusted to maintain an efficient transportation system, intended to accommodate the vast needs of our students.

Should you require any adjustments to your child’s bus schedule or have any transportation questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Transportation Office at 610-892-3470, ext. 1701 or 1702.
