Technology Advisory Council

The Technology Advisory Council will provide ongoing feedback as the district continues evaluating instructional technology practices and planning for the future. To ensure a broad range of perspectives, the council will include representatives from across the school community.
 

Council Membership

The council will include representatives from the following groups:

  • Teachers (Minimum of 8 Representatives): Full representation across all grade bands, and buildings, consisting of at least four elementary teachers, two middle school teachers, and two high school teachers with representation from various content and specialist settings.

  • Parents and Guardians (4 Representatives): Parent and guardian representatives from each major grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12)
  • Board Members: Two members of the Board of School Directors.
  • Building Administrators: Invited to participate as schedules allow.
  • District Technology Staff: Staff members who will facilitate meetings and support the council's work.

Meeting Schedule

The council will meet throughout the school year using two meeting formats:

  • Monthly Staff Meetings: Teachers and district technology staff will meet monthly to discuss instructional technology practices, classroom experiences, operational needs, and emerging issues.

  • Quarterly Council Meetings: The full council, including teachers, parents and guardians, board members, administrators, and district technology staff, will meet quarterly to review district priorities, discuss community feedback, and consider future recommendations.

Member Selection

  • Application Process: At the beginning of each school year, the district will invite staff, parents, and guardians to express interest in serving on the council. Information about the application process will be shared with staff by email and with families through the superintendent's newsletter.

  • Selection Process: Members will be selected to provide broad representation across schools, grade levels, and the community while ensuring a variety of perspectives and experiences are represented.

Council Priorities

The Technology Advisory Council will provide feedback on instructional technology priorities, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): Reviewing opportunities, considerations, and future planning for AI in teaching and learning.
  • Instructional Programs and Digital Resources: Evaluating instructional software and digital tools to support student learning and responsible use of district resources.
  • Classroom Technology Practices: Sharing feedback on how instructional technology supports teaching, learning, and student engagement across grade levels.
  • Digital Wellbeing and Screen Time: Discussing age-appropriate technology use and strategies that support healthy, balanced learning experiences.
  • Professional Learning: Providing input on professional development opportunities that help staff effectively integrate instructional technology.
  • District Planning: Offering feedback to help align district instructional technology priorities with classroom experiences and the needs of students, staff, and families.
