Assistant Superintendent's Office

Welcome to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Sharon Baddick is an accomplished educational leader with more than 25 years of experience in teaching and administration. She is honored to have joined the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District in August 2024 as Assistant Superintendent, bringing extensive expertise in curriculum and instruction, special education, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.

Before joining WSSD, Dr. Baddick served as Assistant Superintendent for the Colleton County School District in South Carolina, where she oversaw curriculum and instruction, professional development, student support services, and district athletics. In this role, she provided leadership in strategic planning, policy development, budget management, and human resources, while also serving in a lead role on the District Strategic Planning Committee, Cognia Accreditation Team, and School Improvement Team.

Previously, she served as Chief of Special Education and Student Support Services in the Scranton School District, where she directed all aspects of special education and student services for a program with a budget exceeding $45 million. In this role, she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the district’s Financial Recovery Plan, mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Under PDE guidelines, “Recovery” signifies a state-directed process requiring school districts to adopt and execute comprehensive plans to restore financial stability, address structural deficits, and ensure the continued delivery of quality educational services. Dr. Baddick’s leadership was critical in aligning the district’s special education and student support services with this recovery framework, guiding strategic initiatives, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, resolving disputes in collaboration with PDE, and strengthening partnerships with families, staff, and the broader community.

Dr. Baddick has also served as Principal and Assistant Principal in Pennsylvania school districts, where she led comprehensive school improvement efforts, coordinated curriculum design and professional development, managed federal Title programs, and fostered positive school cultures. In each role, she has been recognized for her ability to build shared vision, develop high-performing teams, and enhance instructional practices.

In addition to her K-12 leadership experience, Dr. Baddick served as an Adjunct Professor and Regional Academic Coordinator in the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at Delaware Valley University, where she taught Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership concepts and developed partnerships with K-12 institutions. She also served as an Adjunct Professor in the post-graduate Educational Leadership Program at The Citadel Military Academy of South Carolina, further extending her impact on preparing future educational leaders.

As Assistant Superintendent of WSSD, she is committed to advancing the district’s Strategic Plan, fostering innovative instructional practices, and ensuring that every student receives a high-quality education. She brings to the role a collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a deep dedication to student success.
