August, 2021

    Dear Family,

I hope you are enjoying the summer!   I’m very excited to meet the new students and families of room 208.  Here is some information that will help us get the school year off to a smooth start.

    Things to remember

    • Please put your child’s name on outerwear, as well as on school bags and lunch boxes.
    • Please make sure your child wears or brings sneakers for gym.
    • Any money brought to school should be in a sealed envelope marked with your child’s name, my name, our room number (208), and what the money is for.
    • Party invitations may not be distributed at school unless the whole class receives one.
    • Please make sure your child knows how to get home the first day of school.   Thanks!

Homework will be assigned four nights a week.  It will usually consist of 10 minutes of reading, a spelling assignment, and a math worksheet.

Homework gives your child the opportunity to cultivate good study habits and gives you the opportunity to see what we are covering in class.  Please encourage your child to complete homework independently.   Don’t hesitate to let me know if there are any difficulties regarding homework so that we can work together to solve any problems.

We will have snack time each day.  Please send a healthy snack with your child.  The health office asks that children do not share snacks.

We will celebrate your child's special day in class, and summer birthdays will be celebrated as close to the "half-birthday" as possible.  Please do not send food or treats for the class.  Thank you!

    Money Matters

Our class will be using the news magazine Scholastic News.  Each child in our class will also get a personal plan book, which they will use to record homework assignments and spelling words.

The cost for these two items is $7.00.  Please send cash if at all possible.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!
