    Adjectives in Spanish agree with the noun in both gender and number. 

    First, find the noun in the sentence.  Underline it. 

    Second, ASK is this noun masculine or feminine?  

    Third, ASK  is this noun singular or plural? 

    Fourth, CHANGE the ending of each adjective to match the noun in both gender (masculine or feminine) and number (singular or plural.  

     

    Generally, adjectives in Spanish follow this pattern.  Please note:  there are adjectives (inteligente, trabajador, etc) that don't follow this pattern:

     Remember - the NOUN is the boss - the adjectives will always agree with the noun in both gender and number.  

     

    Examples:  

    La niña es alta.      - The girl is tall.

    feminine singular noun            feminine singular adjective.        

    The bottom line: altagrees with niña

    El niño es alto.     - The boy is tall. 

     masculine singular noun          masculine singular adjective

    The bottom line: alto agrees with niño

     Las niñas son altas.    - The girls are tall.

    The bottom line: altas agrees with niñas

    Los niños son altos.    - The boys are tall.
