    Food

Make tostones, a dish that is popular in PR and DR.  Tostones are fried plantains.  You can eat them with garlic sauce, a mixture of ketchup and mayonaise, or by themselves!

Make mofongo!  Mofongo is mashed plantains, usually served as a starch to accompany a meat dish like pernil, chicken, or shrimp.

Try arroz con pollo.  In this traditional one pot recipe, it is normal to have peagao, or rice that sticks to the bottom of the pot.  It is actually crunchy and delicious because the juices and spices in this recipe contribute to its flavor.  Many consider it to be the best part of the dish.

You can also try arroz con gandules, a traditional Puerto Rican holiday rice dish.
