Salvador Dalí was born in Spain in 1904. He began painting as a child and, by the age of 25, he was already a well-known artist. His most famous works are his surrealist paintings. The most recognizable of these is La persistencia de la memoria. Surrealist artists often depict common or easily recognizable objects in strange or unusual settings. Sometimes they change the way these objects look, giving them a dream-like or unreal appearance. Many of Dalí’s paintings ask the viewer to question the difference between reality and dreams.

Antonio Colinas Date of birth: Jan 30, 1946
"Poet, fiction writer, translator and literary critic. He is one of the most outstanding poets of the so-called Generation of 1970."
He was born in La Bañeza (Leon) in 1946. Between 1970 and 1974 he lived in Italy, where he worked as a visiting professor of Spanish at the universities of Milan and Bergamo. His stay in Italy was to have a decisive influence on his poetical work. He lived for 21 years in Ibiza, where he dedicated himself exclusively to writing and criticism. He has received major prizes and awards, both for his poetry and translations. His work is an example of the generation of the novísimos (the “generation of 1970”), but distinguishes itself from its mould through its constant search for a poetical self as a form of knowledge. He has contributed criticism and other articles to a variety of newspapers and magazines in Spain and abroad.
