Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Hufnal

My name is Mr. Hufnal, and I teach 7th grade Social Studies. This is my eighth year at Strath Haven Middle School. Here is some background info, just in case you wanted to know more about me.
I graduated from Eastern University in 2010 as a member of the Templeton Honors College, where I majored in History. My favorite college experiences were studying abroad in Salzburg, Austria and serving as the vice president of Eastern University's chapter of Habitat for Humanity. After student teaching at Marple Newtown High School, I was certified in Pennsylvania for Secondary Ed. Social Studies (grades 7-12).
I truly enjoy teaching social studies, and I believe that this course is vital to a young person's development into a well-rounded adult. I still feel extremely privileged to teach for such a well-respected district as Wallingford-Swarthmore with dedicated administrators, passionate teachers, and great kids.
In terms of interests, I enjoy the outdoors: back-packing, mountain biking, etc. I also like baseball, football, and basketball. My hobbies include studying German, home improvements, reading, and travelling. In the summertime, I teach summer school here at Haven, and I visit my family down at the Jersey shore.
I'm currently pursuing a Masters of Education at Messiah College (only two classes to go). My wife, daughter, and I live in Chadds Ford, PA. Thanks for reading and see you around the Haven!
