Library will be held on days 1 & 9. Please remind your child to bring his/her library books each week so that he/she can select new titles with the rest of the class on Wednesday. On Day 5, students will receive a guidance lesson.
Physical Education will be held on days 2, 6 & 10, so please have your child wear sneakers on those days. Keep in mind that girls usually feel more comfortable if they wear shorts or slacks rather that skirts or dresses on these days.Music will be held on days 4, 8, & 12. Students will need to have their music folder and recorder for each class.SnackI am asking that the students bring in a classroom snack. A snack is helpful to maintain focus and energy to perform at their best. We request a small healthy snack. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.Homework Procedure
Each child will be given a homework assignment book and have a folder that will contain homework papers, school/district related mail, and papers that have been checked and returned. Please check this folder every day as parental follow-up is very important for teaching your child responsibility and organizational skills. Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. Unless otherwise stated, the assignments are expected to be completed neatly and handed in the following morning.
As a part of the homework, your child is expected to read for at least 15 minutes each night. Each child should have free choice of reading material--be it a book, magazine, newspaper, etc. The important thing is that your child is interested in what he/she is reading.
It is very important that your child have a quiet place to do his/her homework and that a specific time be put aside every evening for doing homework. These are time management skills that will last your child a lifetime and should be started now. If you have any questions about homework or if your child is having difficulty with his/her homework in any way, please feel free to contact me and I will work with you to help solve any problems. Thank you for your support in this matter.Birthdays
We love to celebrate birthdays! If you would like to send in a healthy treat for the class on your child's birthday, please let me know in advance. For those children whose birthdays do not fall on a school day or are during summer vacation, you may choose another day to celebrate.
Throughout the year, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I would appreciate it if you would first send in a note or an email so that I could then set aside a time to talk with you about the matter. Please know that your concerns are very important to me, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for your support and cooperation. I am looking forward to sharing a wonderful year with your child.
