-
According to the state of Pennsylvania, students in grades 9-11 are required to pass each of the three Keystone exams (Algebra I, Biology, and Literature). The state requirement to demonstrate proficiency in all three Keystone content areas applies to the class of 2023 and beyond. Students who do not pass all three Keystone exams may pursue an alternate pathway to satisfy the state graduation requirement.

Yes. There is no digital testing option for the Keystone exams.
-
How has the pandemic impacted Keystone exams? Can students impacted still use the composite score option as an alternative pathway?
As a result of the pandemic, all students who took Algebra, Biology, or Literature during the 2019-20 school year and received a passing grade were issued a proficient score on the corresponding Keystone Exam by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Since this score is "non-numeric," it cannot be used as part of the composite score pathway. Students wishing to use the composite score as an alternate pathway for graduation will have to consider another alternate pathway.

Are students required to take Keystone exams during the 21-22 school year?
Yes. All students who are enrolled in a Keystone course (Algebra I, Biology, or English 10) are required to take the relevant Keystone exam.
