Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year
The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District looks forward to welcoming you back for the 2020-21 school year on Monday, August 31, 2020. This webpage provides information about our plans for reopening as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to provide a learning environment that supports our students, staff, and families with health and safety as our top priority.Students have two options to return to learn: a mixture of in-school and at-home learning via the Cohort Model or fully at-home via the WSSD Online Academy. The Education Plan goes into greater detail about these learning options and modalities for students in all of our schools as well as plans to move to fully on-line learning if Delaware County goes into a red phase. The Health and Safety Plan provides information and guidance to keep our schools and facilities clean and our students and teachers healthy to the best of our ability.Depending upon the public health conditions in Delaware County, there could be additional actions, orders, or guidance provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and/or the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) designating the county as being in the red, yellow, or green phase. Pivoting back and forth between less restrictive to more restrictive designations may occur as public health indicators improve or worsen. Our plans are fluid documents based on local, state, and federal guidelines that will continue to develop over time and will be updated as needed. A school closing or significant modification to operations due to COVID-19 will be implemented with the collaboration of the Chester County Health Department and/or on the advice of state and federal orders or mandates. Please click here to review the School Guidance document provided by the Chester County Department of Health. Please enjoy the rest of your summer, and we will see you, in-person or online, on August 31st.
