The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District will provide our community with up-to-date information on our response to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Governor Tom Wolf announced on Thursday, April 9th that all Pennsylvania public schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. All WSSD facilities, playgrounds, and King Field are thus closed.
Flexible instruction for students in all WSSD schools began on Monday, March 30th and will continue through the end of the school year.
Our teachers, staff, and administration worked diligently to move their curricula online. We thank them for their hard work and dedication as we all charter this new territory. We also thank our WSSD families for your patience, understanding, and support during this time. Our teachers and staff are very happy to be reconnected with their students!
The WSSD Flexible Instruction Plan will continue to be a work in progress over time and as we learn more about the duration of the school closure. Additionally, as teachers and students gain more expertise with online learning, and questions evolve from our WSSD family, we intend to have ongoing conversations around distance education with a mindset of continuous improvement. We are aware that no plan is foolproof, especially as we move our educational approach to a fully online model – the first of its kind for many districts – during the period of school closure.
