Unit 1: Basic Tumbling
An introduction to basic Gymnastic and Acrobatic tumbling skills. Skills will include elements that deal with rolls, cartwheels,tripods and handstand elements. Students will be doing movement with enhances muscular strength, muscular endurance as well as flexibility.
Unit 2: Rope Jumping and Fitness
An introduction to various forms ofrope jumping including: American Group Single, American Double and Chinese rope jumping. Students will experience skills in the individual and group rope jumping skills which include compulsory rope skills, speed jumping skills and freestyle skills. Students will continue to do movement which enhances muscular strength, muscular endurance as well as flexibility.Unit 3: Fencing
In this specialty core, students willbe introduced to the “Art of Fencing.” Lessons will include basic footwork, blade work point drills (with foils), basic rules about safety and the game, and beginning bouting. Again, due to the specialty of this unit core, students will be informed of what is needed for participation in the unit. Students will continue to do movement which enhances muscular strength, muscular endurance as well as flexibility.
