• Dear Families,

Happy December!  In November, we kicked off hosting our first Mystery Reader - one of many others, we hope! Students learned about several Indigenous Americans (aka Native Americans); facts and myths about Thanksgiving; created works that show thankfulness; learned about the Hindu celebration of Diwali; building bridges with KEVA planks to hold various weights; how to navigate Bar Models; and so much more!  So, please remember to check my News This Week link EVERY WEEK, which offers greater details on what is taking place in our classroom and around NPE.

In December, the "hits keep coming!" Students will learn about various holiday celebrations around the world, such as Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. They will also be partaking in a classroom holiday book exchange, with parent/guardian help; further developing multiplication and division strategies; creating 3-D works of art, making large snowflakes; and creating procedural/how-to texts, just to name a few! Our classroom party this month will be held on the last day before winter break - complete with fun breakfast fixings and pajamas!!

Don't forget to keep atop of our classroom and school happenings, via my News This Week link. Thank you, in advance, for your partnership and support in helping your children thrive in 2nd grade!

    Kindest Regards,

             Mrs. Clarke
