The String Ensemble is an advanced group of string students who want a musical challenge.  This group is by audition and is usually composed of 8-14 students. Original string quartet music, as well as violin other orchestral styles and genres are studied.  The goal of the group is enrichment for the serious string student.
 
Thank you to all who audtioned for SHMS String Ensemble.  You are all truly gifted students!  Results will be posted next Thursday, October 11, 2012.
The First Rehearsal will be MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2012.

Auditions for the SHMS String Ensemble will be Monday's, October 1 and October 8, 2012 for 7th-8th grade and

Thursday, October 4 for 6th grade.
 Please see Mrs. Van Druff to set up a time slot.
 
 
 
 
AUDITION FORMAT

Each student should come with:
A prepared solo, 
                             2-3 Octave scales (up to 4 flats and 4 sharps) 
    Ready to sight read a short passage.

 
Audition Criteria
 
Intonation, tone quality, vibrato, bowing styles, positions used, and musicality are the benchmarks.
 
The String Ensemble performs Spring Recital Night on April 4 and possibly additional venues both in school and the community.  The main goal, however, is an enrichment experience for the students.
 
 
MONDAY
REHEARSALS from 2:35-3:10 PM IN THE
SHMS Orchestra Room
 
We will rehearse each Monday that we are in school for a full day.
