Spelling Homework

Each week, your child will receive a 10 word spelling list attached to a spelling packet.  This packet is to stay in your child’s folder for the week.  The following are the guidelines for spelling homework:

Monday – Write the words two times each.

    Pictures - Pick five words from the spelling list and draw a picture for each word.  Write the spelling words under your drawings.

    Add It Up - Pick five words from the spelling list.  Use the code below to write an addition fact and find out how much each word is worth.  Example:  cat   5 + 1 + 2 = 8

            a = 1         f = 5         k = 5         p = 10       u = 5        

        b = 2        g = 1          l = 10        q = 5         v = 1

        c = 5         h = 2         m = 5        r = 10       w = 2               

        d = 1         i = 5          n = 10       s = 1          x = 5        

        e = 2         j = 10        o = 5         t = 2         y = 1

                                                                          z = 2

Triangle Words – Pick five words. Write one letter for a word at a time until the entire word is written.

    Sentences - Pick three words from the spelling list and write a sentence using each word.  Underline the spelling word in each sentence.

        ABC Order - Rewrite the spelling list in alphabetical order.

    Story - Write a story using five or more of the spelling words.  Underline the spelling words in the story.

Thursday – Practice Test 

Friday – Sign the Spelling test in the green booklet and return it on Monday.
